Great Hardware, Poor Software

Good: LOVE the ingenuity of this device! I prefer an evaporative humidifier to warm and cool mist. Warm fog because the hot plate is a pain. It collects scales like no other. Cold fog because it also spreads germs by dispersing water in the air (my air purifier confirms this). But of course, evaporative humidifiers also have their downsides, mainly their wicks and humidification efficiency (more on that later). This device FINALLY gets rid of those nasty moldy fungi they call "wicks". This is easy to disassemble and clean. It's also SUPER quiet, even on the highest settings, which is a plus! It cleans well and, unlike other types of humidifiers, does not cause water damage to furniture (see image). Cons: An evaporative humidifier is not as effective as other types of humidifiers. This one works well enough, but I don't think it can support a very large living room. The humidity sensor is off by about 10%, which also makes it very inaccurate. Ugly: app. This is probably the most primitive app I have on my phone and it includes Flappy Bird. The only options you have are On/Off, Level 1-3 and Auto, the last one doing god knows what because I don't know for sure and they don't bother to explain! With a suboptimal humidity sensor, the automatic function is rubbish anyway. It is also not possible to set the preferred temperature unit. So the main screen says Celsius and the humidifier itself says Fahrenheit, I like that consistency. Let's talk about their ITTT system, or "automation" as they like to call it. It's absolutely USELESS. You might think you can bypass the humidifier's vaguely "automatic" mode. But no. The humidifier will not measure humidity when not in use. So if you're thinking that you can turn it off and on automatically when you need it, you're wrong. The only thing it does is an automatic shutdown, but in my experience even that doesn't always work. I'm still not sure if it's worth the price.
