1. The plastic wheel is slippery. If you don't have power steering you should have good traction.2. Check your adapter! My adapter had 6 holes but the top hole was at 12 o'clock. The holes in the steering wheel were at 11 and 1 o'clock. So to get the steering wheel horizontal I had to drill 6 new holes to keep the steering wheel horizontal when the wheels are straight. Check your adapter and handlebar bolt pattern. Almost all adapters have a groove matching the slotted steering fork. If your adapter pattern is not parallel to the groove (11 o'clock and 1 o'clock holes) you can ensure that it is installed with the steering wheel showing a straight/normal position and not "turned".
