Review on Lasko Twin Electric Window Fan with Reverse Functionality, EA by Leslie White

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One engine failed immediately and generally poor design.

This fan was intended to replace a Honeywell Duracraft I bought from a friend in 2001 for $20. Yes, the 15 year old fan was still kicking when I bought the Weasel! I've used Duracraft to blow cigarette smoke out of my computer room. So all I had to do was lube the motors with WD-40 from time to time to keep it running. A few months ago an engine failed completely (and I don't blame it - it's served me well all these years - rain/snow/heat - I've seen it all). So back to Lasko. The right fan was not working on the box exhaust. It worked on the intake, but it's slow to start (it looks like an unbalanced assembly). I've read a lot of reports on here about how powerful the motors are. Well they are NOT! I don't know what performance the engines were compared to. Now I have a 15 year old Duracraft with 1 working fan and a brand new Lasko with 1 exhaust fan - side by side. My old fan is cooler than Lasko. Of course Lasko is much calmer. But it doesn't do the job. I think this is a design flaw. The small diameter of the blades and lots of clearance around them compared to my old fan where the blades are larger and closer to the edges and sides. In this way, the air is extracted much more efficiently. I would return Laska even if it was in perfect condition. I just need something that actually does the job of drawing the smoke. or just quit smoking (but that's another story).
