The best scanner for the price

This device has potentially saved me $100, if not $1,000. I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima 20th Anniversary Edition and it has to pass a smog test in California at a star certified smog station (they have stricter rules and criteria and my car needs it in the DMV because I'm already 18 years old) . Getting the codes P043 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold in bank 2), P042() (catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1) and P135 (oxygen sensor heater circuit failure (bank 1, sensor 1)) I was able to easily read these codes with their definitions on this device and then searched the internet for solutions to fix these problems, obviously this device will not solve the underlying problem behind the check engine light and you will have to do your youtube homework and google me to find out, I thought the simplest solution would be a catalytic cleaner like "Cataclean" and "CRC Guaranteed to Pass" and fuel and EVAP and inexpensive catalytic converter and O2 sensors and it worked. The hardest part for me was setting up the CAT Monitors, but one thing I found was constantly pressing the gas pedal to 3000rpm while the car was idling for at least 2 minutes to get the C Set up AT monitor. These cleaners clean your catalytic converter and sensors and are definitely an inexpensive plan A if your check engine light comes on and you're not ready for an emissions test. This device also helped me reset the Check Engine light until I had no trouble codes stored in the car's computer and all the monitors were set up and ready and the green light didn't come on when you pressed I/M ready to check if You are ready for the state emission test. Of course, everything went smoothly once this nifty device confirmed that the car was ready and all the monitors were set up for emissions testing. I ended up spending about $110 on this scanner and 2 bottles of Cataclean and 1 bottle of CRC Catalytic Cleaner which is a chip replacement considering just the labor ($110 an hour here in Walnut Creek ) would be expensive to replace an O2 sensor. I highly recommend this device.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
