Review on AGPTEK M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure USB 3.1 Gen 2: Tool-Free, UASP Supported (2230/2242/2260/2280 Compatible) by John Douglas

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works great - for a short time

This case works as described. Inserted compatible discs are recognized as external HD like a USB stick. The only downside to this case is the heat. I would expect this case to be used on average for a reliable external hard drive that is fast and likely to hold a lot of data. Therefore, proper heat dissipation is crucial when using it for a shorter period of time. This drive case will feel very hot (not just warm) after a few hours of use. I'd be surprised if long-term use of a drive didn't cause failure in this case, or at least accelerated failure. That's why I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. However, short-term use for quick file transfers will likely work, and this case will work just fine. For longer use I would recommend either a case with better heat dissipation. .And for large or incremental backups I would use a NAS with a developed NAS HD or a cloud service (like Dropbox/Google Drive or iDrive/Carbonite).

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Small repairability
