I have to say right away that this is going to be a picky review. It's not because I don't like the product - I like it and would definitely recommend it. None of the "cons" will stop me from buying it again, it's just small touches that I think will improve it. So let's start with the background. I live with 2 cats, have hardwood and vinyl floors and mope Sw------r. My main reasons for buying a steam mop were: worried about the waste associated with using pads and solution bottles, worried about my two cats walking on said chemicals on a wet floor, not actually mopping the floor, and another . I'm a knitter and I really wanted something that I could use to steam block my finished products. I have tried other vapers and returned them for various reasons. I have just tested this puppy and can now tell you that if there are no problems in the future I will keep this puppy! What I liked: Nice long cord - what they DO NOT tell you in the instructions is that there is a nifty little cord clip on the top wrap of the cord that keeps it from getting in the way of you using the floor mop. The upper coil of the cord is also quickly loosened - pull it towards you and fold it to the side. You can hear it once the steam moves. I tried it on a dried cat horn that I kept just for this purpose and it lasted about 3 puffs. My floors were relatively clean - last weekend they washed their hands and knees thoroughly - with a scrubber (see above for non-deep cleaning) so it needed mopping, but I wasn't expecting what I got on this pad. It was the kitchen, dining room and study where most of the external dirt ended up. I also tried attachments, the point attachment in particular worked great on the stovetop and in the microwave. And I love that they gave two round brushes as you can allocate one for the food areas and the other for the bathrooms. I also like that there is built in storage for the point nozzle. I personally had no problem with the roll up pad when wiping. It glided over vinyl, hardwood, and prefabricated bamboo in the closet with equal ease. I used it with heavy steam and wiped the kitchen, dining room and office in that order and when I finished cleaning the first two were dry. I also did a dry run to block the scarf with a safety pin (Love Love Love), a window wiper (works but not that well), and a cylinder cleaning tool (useless, never used). You can use tap water. As long as you don't have hard water, it comes with a fancy little tumbler, easy to fill - and you can top it up immediately after using steam without having to wait for it to cool - and the remaining water is easy to fill drain. All you have to do is fold the fill hole and hold it out of the way while tilting the controller forward, draining the water and giving it a little shake. So yes I like it. Now for the nitpicking. This does not stand up to scrutiny. The instructions say to use one of the pouring cups - the tank doesn't fill completely after one is inserted, not sure if that's on purpose. It also has no padding string. So you have to fill up a lot with large floors or additional cleaning. Not a big problem as you don't have to let it cool down, but a little annoying. It would be great if there was a "fill light" that would tell you when it's dry because the only way to tell is by listening for the sound of the steam - when it stops it comes out of here. you park it I believe this is probably the norm for all vapers as the vapor cools and condenses in the channels. It's not much, just be careful where you set it. Same with investing - more dribbling. They also drip when you use them until the hose gets hot. I had no drops from the point nozzle. Although it has built-in storage for the point nozzle, you'll need to store the hose and any other nozzles elsewhere. To be honest I'm not sure I want to leave them all hanging from the mop as that would make it heavier but the whole point of a "lift" block is that you pick it up and take it off and do what you want. have to do. Having to rush back to the broom closet, bathroom, or anywhere else you left jets counteracts the ease of getting up, I think. There are two points that I see as serious problems. First, when you use a window scraper it starts to release a lot of water when you pull it down, which you have to wipe off or you're in for a mess. Except that YOU CAN'T. You must hold the mop in one hand and the sensor in the other hand or it will stop producing steam. And the other side of this is that when you let go, it levitates for about 3 seconds. So if you've been steaming and need to dry off, you should have a place to put the steamer where it won't harm anything, including you, while you dry off. I've tried this on my kitchen cabinets, for example. This would work great except I would have to dry off while vaping which can't be done without tools and that would be a real problem if I was working on the stairs while working upstairs. I can understand the "only works if your hand is on it" as a precaution, but what's really REALLY needed is a shut-off valve that will instantly stop all vapor when you take your hand off this sensor. I wish you could put a point nozzle on the hose. As I said, it worked fine in the microwave, but it didn't fit all the way in without tipping - a hose would have made things easier. I also wish I had last year's triangular furniture steamer. The barrel attachment that comes with the new model is honestly the dumbest thing I've ever seen. What exactly did you think you were cleaning with it? maybe in the sleeves, but otherwise it's impractical - and the real problem is that it doesn't direct vapor in a specific direction. It comes out in the lid and most of it goes straight up in the air. The manual says it's for cleaning fridges (maybe the top if your cupboards go straight to the fridge?), jams and frames - no, the rounded end of this thing won't reach in the corners of anything - and spindles. (may be). NOT very useful for steaming clothes, refreshing curtains or sofas, or anything else I can think of. I hope I can buy an old triangular head somewhere if it fits the new model. Well, despite all that, I don't really see myself steaming my furniture, and even if it didn't have the issues I've found with the window wiper, it still wouldn't be my window cleaning tool of choice. What he does, and does well, is sweep my floors and steam my shawl, as well as a few other cleaning chores that I consider a bonus. I've been searching and researching couples for about 2-3 years and am so glad I finally found one I like. Oh, and replacement pad packs are also reasonably priced compared to pads for some other brands. Last year's 7688anw was featured in several online reviews of the top ten steam mops: I think this one will be one of them. Overall I give 4.5. No full star for maneuverability as some attachments are uncomfortable. EDIT: So I just wiped the floor again. I first mopped sw-----r with an all purpose pad and a floor grout recommended by my flooring manufacturer. It's on the right. Not very dirty, is it? Allow the floor to dry and then mop again with a steam jet. This area is at the bottom left and the blank area is at the top for comparison. I can only say WOW! EDIT 2. I downgraded my rating to 4 stars. I found 2 issues that make me think this could be improved a bit. 1st is the continuity of the couple. So you vaporize and it shoots out in a stream of energy and --- it stops. sneezes a little, starts to boil and turns on again. I have no idea why he's doing this. This is a bit annoying as it slows things down but doesn't affect the overall efficiency of the tool. 2nd is a bit more worried. I noticed that the handle feels thin. I suspect it will break down over time. You'll notice it especially when you move the mop from side to side. I would add that I brought the spot steamer to the inside of my toaster oven door and it immediately brushed off the dirt and grease. Also tried it on the sticky dirt that accumulates on hand popcorn and it also dissolved.
