I don't mid quartering fruit and veggies. To me, that's no problem. That the hopper leaves behind a chunk, or two is no problem. Mostly, it's even easy to clean EXCEPT at the drain hole at the bottom of the augur section before it leads to the spigot. Fiber gets clogged in there, and inside the augur all the time. Sometimes, if you run really fibrous fruits and veggies into it, it gets SO clogged that the augur unit will stick to the main body and you have to pry the thing off, or tip the main body over backward and tap the thing away with a rubber mallet. It strains a bit also, when you put in something hard, like beet root, even when quartered. It does give you great juice. You just have to be aware of the potential problem and be careful, and it will be good to you. I waste the most water while cleaning the fibre out of the drain with a chopstick. OY! Make sure when hosing the drain hole to have the switch in 'open' position. Clean after every use. That helps.
