I am an avid tea drinker, at least 2 liters a day, and when my old trusty teapot finally died (and was discontinued) after 8 years I went in search of a replacement. The good reviews for this product convinced me. Two weeks after using it, after brewing it, I go to the kitchen until it smells awful. It failed, and I don't know how hot it got, but it was enough to burn off the liquid and leave a steaming tar crust on the teapot bottle. The pedestal that the kettle sits on fills the room with an awful smell of burnt plastic and made a clicking noise before I unplugged it. Needless to say it's broken, but before that it wasn't perfect either. In particular, the keep-warm function that makes this kettle so appealing tends to re-boil tea that has already been brewed, which can often leave a burnt aftertaste. Overall I cannot recommend this product. Now I'm stuck trying to get that 4 year warranty I bought to get my money back and with all this hassle I just want a cup of tea :(
