This is an excellent micrometer, very accurate and precise. The ratchet thimble allows you to get the right tension without interfering with your measurements. They are very well built and strong. The case they come with is basic but good enough. You must remember to lock the mechanism if you keep them as a slight change in movement will turn them back on. Although not a big problem. I use them in an industrial setting to identify non-standard parts and gaps for tight fitting cutting blades. The display is very sharp and although it doesn't have a backlight, the contrast is good and shows up well in dark environments.
