Use this cable to transfer video from a surveillance DVR with HDMI output to an older (about 5 years old) monitor with DVI input. The picture was great, but the blues and grays turned purple, and no adjustment of the settings helped the color. The cable was very well made and reasonably priced, but for some reason the colors didn't translate properly. This surprised me because despite being a high quality digital output to a lower resolution digital input, the colors were choppy. Red and white appeared normal, but blue, black, and gray rendered as magenta. The same DVR connected to a newer monitor with the same resolution via an HDMI cable displays fine.
