Review on Mepra 30213126 Glamour Frying Stainless by David Alvarado

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It distributes heat well, is dishwasher safe and easy to use. Ideal for experienced and mediocre cooks.

(Change from 5 stars to 2 stars: Explanation after initial review.) This is for a 26 cm (10 inch) skillet, which I suppose should be called a sauté pan, although it needs to be fried on skillet/frying pan. We continue. I like Mepro cookware with Eterna non-stick coating, which is said to be non-toxic, safe for metal cookware, and dishwasher safe. I was given a small skillet/pan as a Vine reviewer and I liked that I wanted a large skillet with the same characteristics. Nothing sticks to this pan - it's amazing. I still use oil to cook some dishes because I like a crispy texture, but no nonstick cookware works better. Some might say cast iron pans are great, but they're terrible because they can't be washed and different foods require different pans. The pan distributes and retains heat well. I found this out after turning off the stove after I finished cooking the quesadilla and one side was overcooked from not removing it from the pot. After throwing the ingredients with a metal spatula without scratching or food sticking, I just throw it in the dishwasher to clean it. It's so convenient. The price is outrageous. But this product from Mepra is so amazing I'm willing to pay - I'm sure it's not cheap to manufacture. In addition, as an unskilled cook, I burn a lot and everything is easily scraped off with it. I want to replace all my dishes with this one. ********************* (Edited to add) After 18 months, the non-stick property began to deteriorate and then got worse. Turns out the non-stick coating isn't that durable. I'll admit I used a metal spatula, but the Mepra product description says metal spatulas and dishwashing liquid both work. I suspect a metal spatula was the culprit and if using it would do that much damage I would use a different spatula. Spring. Too late. So far it has worked very well, but now I need a new non-stick pan. I'm willing to pay more for higher quality products, but that's how much for 18 months of functionality.
