Review on Totally Bamboo GreenLite Dishwasher Cutting by Julie Bishop

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My favorite cutting board: Sturdy, but still light and relatively thin. Medium Cutting Board

This is the ideal size cutting board for medium to small cutting tasks. It's light and relatively thin compared to others, but is still well built, durable and ideal for all but the bigger tasks. I don't want it to be smaller, but it's big enough to handle most cutting tasks, except for the biggest ones (like watermelon). The perfect alternative to a lightweight and affordable chopping board when you don't want to take up too much counter space or want to pull out a really big one. Your largest size should also be great and way better than carrying heavier boards. It is well made, has good finish and construction. However, I am very picky and it seems that the very last step of completion on this board has not been completed. The particular piece I received had some very small microfibers the width of a short hair, slightly loose microfibers (NO splinters) that most people would not notice, which I easily removed in just a few minutes with 250 grit sandpaper to make it perfect. (Steel wool or SOS are also suitable for this). I smeared on some mineral oil to restore it like a new finish. It's in a different league than the two-piece, small-to-medium board chopping board called the DDMVZ, which sells for $9. This set of two boards differs in that one is so small it is unusable and the board smells of plywood glue and has a slightly chipped poorly finished thin bamboo top. I sent them back. Pay an extra seven bucks and get what you love and want and keep it, like this Totally Bamboo Greenlight Utility Board. By the way, I do not recommend washing a wooden board in a washing machine. Regardless of manufacturers' boasts and claims, let's face it, wood doesn't like constant contact with water, and use common sense to simply wash and dry it when you're done, and apply mineral oil when it's done begins to weather after months of use.

Pros
  • Sturdy Surface
Cons
  • Damaged
