This is a very good 6mm router bit. It makes vertical cuts in one direction, and when withdrawn, the lower cut clears the groove. Very fancy BUT the stem is NOT 1/4 inch. It's .23622, not .2500. Therefore, it is very weakened in the milling chuck. On first use it went from .250 to .325 before I noticed. I've calibrated and tightened it beyond what I normally do and everything works fine after that. So when you buy this cutter, remember that it needs to be a very snug fit and check between cuts. it didn't fit a 1/4 inch bit. I had to put a piece of wood on top of the bit and hammer it into the cartridge. This turned out to be a bad idea. When I tried it, the cartridge really chewed. took everything apart and opened the jaws with a razor blade and also had to use a dental drill (I'm a retired dentist) to clean the jaws from the damage I had previously done to them. Now it runs again at 1/4, albeit very tight, but the 6mm bit may need to be removed before I can find the 6mm router chuck jaws. Too bad. I like the way it cuts. My straight cut spiral cutters work very well on my router table, but they try to push the wood up and out of the cutting area. The UP/DOWN bit doesn't do that at all. That's the first tone I've ever found. Where can I find more 1/4" U/D bits?
