I am using an 8-bay NAS with 4TB drives as the primary storage for my Plex server. Everything was great, but I'm a firm believer in the 3-2-1 backup rule. So my sequence of random external HHDs matched with tape and beer didn't fit. This seemed like my best bet for large storage. The device itself works exactly as described. I'm getting about 800MB R/W (according to Black Magic Speed test) with 8 x 4TB WD Red NAS drives connected to a 2018 Mac Mini. As mentioned, the status indicators are nasty, which is why they were covered with tape. As others have mentioned, I was also nervous about the lack of vents or fans in the front. For this reason I bought some fan covers/grids and drilled my own vent holes in the doors. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but gives me more confidence that my $800 hard drives will stay cool. Overall it was reliable but only worked for a couple of weeks. If I have any problems I'll let you know
