For anyone wondering if the model fits: According to Mercury Parts Catalog 803522T01 = 5hp US EPA under S/Ns803522T02 = 5hp 5hp engine for EU over S/Ns803522A04 = 5 HP for EU under S/Ns8M0053670 = 4 HP for all US models 853720T25 = 3.5 HP If some of these are stocked at the dealer they cost around $190. Please note that this T25 carburetor is not listed in the product description here. None of the carburetor numbers that the seller lists as replacements for this item are Mercury 3.5hp. YouTube reviews from those who have tried it with the 3.5hp motor say it works great and puts out a little more power than the 3.5hp motor. I ordered one here for 3.5 hp, received it within 3 days. I inspected this carburetor, mounting surfaces and connections. They are almost identical to the original 3.5 hp carburettor. First update: I installed a carburetor on my Mercury 3.5 HP. August 18, 2014 In the large test bath, the engine started immediately and only an adjustment of the idle speed was necessary. Where my original factory carburetor would fluctuate in gear from idle to RPM is this 5hp carburetor. did not hesitate. I can tell I'm pushing more horsepower because the entire tub (55 gallons) is being pushed off the workbench when I press halfway down the accelerator. From 3.5 hp there was no such thing. 15-20 minutes idling at idle and ridden in gear for the same time. There was no change in speed or tendency to die. I want to do a water test tomorrow. I will provide another update later. Post-run update: cold start, 1st or 2nd full throttle, then throttle back to 1/2 relatively quickly; then after 1 minute to idle. Warm start: first pull - no choke when really warm, half choke when warm. In either case, use the throttle position to restart. I was able to run between 3 and 5 miles at 3/4 to full throttle before running out of gas. Apologies for the inaccuracy (upwind, then upwind, downriver, across the river and zigzag back, etc.). Operation at high speeds is very smooth. Idle when forward gear is engaged is quite possible; You can really troll with this carbohydrate. I made no adjustments other than initially setting the idle speed to the sweet spot between neutral and forward. Everything is OK!
