If you have little space between anything and your aquarium glass (plants, gear etc) this is the lowest profile I could find (even other micros - not thinner) and as far as I can say they have what I consider to be rare earth magnets (strongest magnets I have ever seen). I have ordered other brands at 2 times the price and this one I ordered as a good marriage, now I have 2 of these and the rest I sent to the spares basket. They really are that good and in my case allow me to clean the glass without destroying my plants (yes I planted close to the sides). I have ideas that could improve this excellent product, if the manufacturer asks I would be happy to share it with them. as long as it's the best I can find on the market for my tank size and needs (the little magnet I have hasn't tried the medium so can't talk to it). Despite being thin, its surface area is the same as other large magnets so I don't really have to use it only for specific areas, it does the job for the whole tank as needed (think regular magnet). unassembled, same size, just thinner). It doesn't pop up when you "throw" it in a tank, but it's so solid I've never had a problem, and I have a typical dice and bull front tank, and it has no problem with any of the corner transitions and can be used without hesitation. Shutdowns during use are no joke. The only thing I've seen on other rare earth magnet products are warnings to not be allowed to hit two pieces when placing them as this could break the glass so please note it's strong is and when initially placed it must be strongly considered. on the glass of the tank or put it back on (after opening, feel the magnetic force before willy-nilly put into the tank). A detailed review for those who don't leave reviews unless the product is excellent or I feel I can help distract people from a bad product. Most fall between the lines, it was a gem!
