About 10 years later my previous vacuum wine stoppers recently gave out - one when the vacuum piston stopped working and another when the rubber seal broke. This set of 2 was so old I couldn't find the names on the devices and couldn't find anything similar on the internet. While I felt they gave a good price I was unable to order an exact replacement. The Vinium wine cork is similar in that it's a one-piece construction unlike many other approaches to the problem of degassing wine, so I took a chance. However, after a two-week trial period, I'm not thrilled with this purchase for three reasons. First of all, the other reviews are correct, even a temporary vacuum cleaner needs a lot of work. Second, and more importantly, the vacuum doesn't hold as well as the stoppers I've had before (my comparison standard and backup target). I used to expect to be able to withstand a vacuum for at least 2-3 days, but that wasn't the case with Vinium. Third, the Revain website refers to this product as a "set" and the main product image shows two such corks and a wine glass. Therefore I think it is fair for me to assume that the product delivered will contain two stoppers. Wrong - a cork, packed in a beautiful box. So what does this set do? Stopper plus box? My dictionary says that a quantity is "a number, group, or combination of things of a similar nature." Is a stopper plus packaging suitable? Now it's clear, for the price I paid ($10) I wouldn't mind just getting one of these if it works well. But that's not the case.
