The auto switching feature is great
I have an old TV that doesn't have HDMI inputs, it works with 5 video game systems (yes it's overkill) and makes switching from system to system much easier. If your video game systems are set to refresh/boot while idle, this can cause the HDMI switch to change inputs. So make sure you disable any sleep features on your video game systems so they don't toggle while you're playing something different. I've never had to use the remote, but I can say it's cheap.
