I love these! Now that my daughter has gone to school, I mostly cook for her. This size is perfect for this purpose and can be used for both dessert cakes and savory cakes. a few weeks ago i started a small project; Create a pile of portioned meals to fill my freezer. These mini shapes came in really handy for my project! Last week I made four sausage patties and pepperoni pizza: I started with a layer of shredded mozzarella, added about 2 tsp. Pizza sauce on top of cheese, then some grated parmesan reggiano and then cooked crumbled hot Italian sausage. Another layer of sauce/cheese, then sliced mini pepperoni, then another layer of sauce/cheese. Finish off with chopped olives sprinkled with a little more grated Parmesan Reggiano. I added top cakes, cut vent holes and placed them in the freezer uncovered. I let them freeze overnight and then removed the frozen cakes from their molds. I wrapped them each in strong foil and then placed them in individual 1 liter zip lock bags. Finally they went back to the freezer. When it's time to cook and eat your frozen mini cake, simply remove the cake from the bag, unwrap and place back in one of the mini cake pans. Bake it in the oven from frozen. I usually protect the edges with a narrow strip of foil, which I remove 15-20 minutes before the cake is done to brown it. Fast, tasty and delicious! I don't put them in the dishwasher to clean them. They don't stick, so they can be quickly hand washed and dried in minutes. I don't put dishes in the dishwasher. Automatic dishwashing detergents are harsh (they should be) and despite what I told my daughter at the age of four, there is no such thing as a family of tiny people walking around with miniature brushes, sponges and mops. with which you can wipe the dirt on the dishes when you close the dishwasher door and press the "Start" button. No, the detergent does most of the work, and it needs to be very powerful to clean whatever you put in (often baked-on or dried-out food scraps). Over time, this detergent can tarnish and weaken clear plastics, and metals (like those used to make bakeware) can become pitted and/or scratched (usually these scratches come from other items in the dishwasher rattling on them). strength of the water when washing or rinsing). Pitting and these scratches can destroy the non-stick coating; On non-stick cookware, they can cause baked goods to *stick*, even if you prepare the pans properly. That's why I take good care of my baking pan, hand wash it to avoid holes and scratches to keep it working well and lasting for many years!
