Having deployed dozens and dozens of these GWN7000s in multiple configurations and Internet channels, we can say with expert opinion that these routers advertise far more features than they actually offer. The facilities themselves are impressive. The concepts of what can be achieved are impressive. Unfortunately, everything goes downhill from there. The support is terrible. You'll quickly find that you know a lot more than the people answering (or criticizing) your questions. Grandstream just doesn't care about the network support channel. There are very, very few firmwares. Literally only 2 in the last 2 years and these mostly relate to the access point management aspect. In the ever-changing world of routers, where security is paramount, Grandstream doesn't get it. These devices on standard wired internet will never exceed expected speeds. Regardless of the settings (QoS, bandwidth throttling, etc.), you never seem to get anywhere near the speeds you pay for. Example: A 100Mbps connection from your cable provider always goes directly to the GWN7000 via the Ethernet cable as it is 50-75% slower. Something in the device is filtering high-bandwidth traffic, and this is a serious problem when video and audio are in high demand. Many have reported the Grandstream problem for years, but unfortunately it is completely ignored. Dedicated point-to-point connections seem acceptable (e.g. fiber), but cable connections have never been accurate for us today β connections like Comcast, Charter, Cox, etc. across North America. Connect but not work or route traffic incorrectly. All protocols (OpenVPN, L2TP, PPTP, IPsec). As mentioned, don't even think that you're getting any kind of expert support by reporting problems. You can even give them direct access to devices and they still won't or can't fix problems. GWN Wi-Fi hotspots work great, but use them outside of these GWN7000 routers. Grandstream is NOT a router company. You do not understand. They don't take it seriously. They just don't care. Avoid this and run your router from something else. Recommendation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LV8YZLK/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_bACMEbK5GVRPHThis review is not to be taken lightly. A lot of time and money has been invested in this GWN7000. Several meetings with Grandstream representatives as well as countless emails and forum posts. Now we are faced with their failure to keep our customers happy and that alone is costing us thousands. Grandstream seems to focus on the beauty of the devices and the underlying software, but the functionality isn't the same. Lipstick on a pig. avoid them.
