This is a great filter for the cockatiel aquarium. You can turn the flow down to a slow flow. I've slowed mine down a bit with a pre-filter since my betta is barely 7 months old and is in a 2.5 gallon mini tank. Of course the cap is loose but with this filter instead of the original filter it floats everywhere and I can actually fill the tank where it needs to be. I like that this is a sponge filter because it lasts much longer than carbon cartridges and gives me the option to add a small homemade filter bag when I need to remove medication or treatments from the reservoir. Will definitely be buying another one for my next bed aquarium. Definitely recommend this filter system to anyone who has rooster or similar fish in a small aquarium. I also think it's good that you can adjust the angle if the filter box leans back a little. It is rated for 1-4 gallons and I think it can even work for an oddly shaped 5 or 6 gallon tank if well stocked with a few small fish or bettas.
