To filter or not to filter

Nice little device. It comes with a small sponge filter which I honestly think is completely useless. After about an hour I would have thought it would be full of dirt. The filters (Aquarium Masters 3 Pack Nano Aquarium Carbon Filter Replacement Nano Filter!) for the device are inserted at an angle (no instructions and it's not obvious) and compress the sponge that comes with the device. I don't know if it's supposed to work that way. The inlet pipe doesn't go as deep into the tank as on my…

no better or worse than any other

Have owned several aquariums in over 20 years. I've been using it for almost 30 days. This filter is no better or worse than comparable products on the market. The best I can say is that it's quiet while in use and the cord is nice and long. Cons - still leaves a film on the surface, turn it up for good flow and it craters in the bottom substrate - to avoid disturbing the substrate I have to turn it down to almost a trickle and then there is no water movement below the surface. Although it may…

Efficient and Quiet

The filter that came with my 3 gallon betta tank stopped working shortly after purchase. I read the reviews on this HOB pump/filter and decided to give it a try. I wasn't disappointed and I'm glad I read the reviews. It emptied my tank pretty quickly and still works. The tank is on my bedside table and the motor of this filter pump is very quiet. I would recommend additional filter media as other reviewers have suggested. It's a small price to pay (adding extra filter media) given the excellent

Perfect. Quiet and efficient

I have a 2 1/2 gallon Deep Blue Betta tank. This pump looks just like the Depp Blue filter, but is completely silent! There is a slight audible hum in another aquarium with a Deep Blue filter. @ $9.99 compared to $14.99, this Aquarium Masters pump is more affordable and a better buy for the price. My tank was crystal clear overnight at full speed. I haven't entered any taps yet, but if I do I'll reduce the speed as low as possible. Brand new, it still runs a little harder than I would like, but

"Made in Taiwan " filters would be more accurate

It is hilariously ironic to label your product "NOT MADE IN CHINA" when you are selling a product that is a counterfeit AZOO AA filter (which is actually made in Taiwan) . Case). Anyway I needed another HOB filter and decided to buy this one to compare to the original and it worked great for the half year I had it. The engine is quiet and has the same characteristics as the original. It gets the job done in my 5 gallons and I would recommend buying a pre-filter sponge or you'll need to…

good surprise Perfect for my 3 liters. nano.

I have a 3 gallon freshwater nanotank in which I placed a cylindrical glass vase that is 12 inches in diameter and 8 inches high. When I ordered the filter I wasn't sure if it would fit the curvature of the tank but it fits perfectly. The EA unit comes with a nice sponge pre-filter which I left in place. However, I did swap out the two internal foam filters (see below). The small (cropped) mesh pouch even has some space for activated charcoal as well as a few BioMax pellets. The flow rate is…

Great little hanging filter

This is a great filter for the cockatiel aquarium. You can turn the flow down to a slow flow. I've slowed mine down a bit with a pre-filter since my betta is barely 7 months old and is in a 2.5 gallon mini tank. Of course the cap is loose but with this filter instead of the original filter it floats everywhere and I can actually fill the tank where it needs to be. I like that this is a sponge filter because it lasts much longer than carbon cartridges and gives me the option to add a small…

Perfect little cooktop Best in Fish & Aquatic Pets

I have a 5 gallon Revival with a waterfall filter that is aesthetically pleasing to look at but has terrible water flow that requires replacing two cartridges. Because of this, my Betta struggled to get to the center of the tank. Low ratings and cheap price. I chose this filter after some arguments with the Azoo Migon 60 filter. I replaced both sponges in the pics) * ADJUSTABLE FLOW is great for the size and price * I suggested making your own filter media. I used the black sponge that came…

Great for a five gallon betta plant aquarium

I spent some time trying various low power filters for betta plants and found that most of them began to rattle within a month of use and died. I suspect that small pumps are either difficult to manufacture and quality control or frankly just cheap. Then I came across this one. There were few reviews but I decided to give it a try and I'm really glad I did. I got it up and running about five days ago. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: Small size Very quiet Adjustable water flow (surprising for
