Review on Dark Slate Thule Rail 18L Backpack by Billy Berry

I've tested three other hydration packs recently and this is the clear winner in every competition. Thule quality and attention to detail do not disappoint. You get what you pay for, that's for sure. I'll start with some of my favorite features.1. Ribbed back and padded shoulder straps. I'm a very sweaty guy and I tested this backpack for two days on the road in over 90C through the hills. Let me tell you about the pleasure of feeling the breeze BETWEEN my back and shoulders. The ribbed design also offers more support without creating pressure points.2. The curved straps are just right. Other companies make simpler and cheaper straight straps, but they actually follow the contours of the body, sitting flat on the shoulders but not pinching the armpits when using aero bars or the top of the bar. It's a big, big thing for long trips.3. Four compression straps on the back - two on top, two on bottom. You can secure your light load and prevent your tools from being bumped.4. Lightweight but supportive hip belt. Again, the thigh flaps hug the body well and stretch right where I have bulges. They held the backpack and took the weight off my shoulders.5. Reinforcement foam/padding on the outer shell. A piece of foam is sewn into the back of the backpack, making the back smooth. It looks good and has less wind resistance.6. belt mount. Most woven straps, including all on the front, have loops to store excess strap length to keep them from dangling in the wind. The other features Thule has described in the literature are of course great. Yellow accents on the outside give the elegant gray fabric a zest. I really can't say anything bad about this backpack. A few threads were sticking out on a piece of the blade sealing tape, but I attribute this to an advance copy, as the quality is excellent everywhere.
