No sharp focus / collimation problem

I didn't know what collimation was until I started researching the problem with these binoculars and found it had a name. The binoculars look great out of the box. I brought them with high expectations to the desert mountains to test them. I immediately realize that when trying to focus on distant objects, I had great trouble focusing on objects at any distance, even after several diopter adjustments. Coincidentally, the visual difference between mine left and right eye minimal. My first game binocular test was on a group of eight mule deer walking up the side of a ridge about 400 yards away. I continued to fiddle with getting the deer in focus before finally giving in and pulling out the Bushnell PowerView 10 x 50mm, which I bought at the same time. The magnification was certainly lower, but I was surprised at the difference d in brightness, image sharpness and simple focus adjustment with consistent image quality. I should also note that I was looking out of my pickup and had firm supports for my elbows with Celestrons. I bought the Celestron with the Bushnells to give me the best option for long-distance viewing, but I immediately noticed that the Bushnells' image quality is better even at lower magnification. So I'm just sticking with Bushnells for now, and if I decide to buy another higher performing kit in the future I'll try to get a slightly more expensive brand.
