The A129 Pro Duo 4K is worth the price difference (versus HD).

About nine months ago I bought three Viofo HD DVRs (NOT 4K) and was quite happy with them. They work, they filmed some interesting incidents and our family feels much more comfortable when they are there for their daily commute. We recently needed another camera for an additional vehicle, so I decided to try this 4K version. The extra resolution seemed very helpful as I was trying to see license plates on video from our HD cameras and found them quite difficult to read. As soon as the 4K version came out, I installed it on the windshield. to the HD version for some direct side-by-side comparisons. The difference was incredible. This is one of those situations where you think you already have decent image quality, but the enhanced version just blows it away. Check out the attached footage and you'll see what I mean. License plates that were blurry in HD are very sharp in 4K. License plates in the distance, unreadable in HD (can't even count the number of digits!), blurry in 4K - but READABLE. Check out the side-by-side comparison photo of the red truck. This is the key. This is the difference between readable and unreadable. It all depends on your personal preference and budget, but to me 4K is worth the price difference. When I think of the possibility that one of my family members is in a situation where they desperately need a license plate, HD doesn't help. 4K will save the day.
