2006 CIVIC Engine Problem Solution

My daughter's CIVIC 2006 last winter (2018/2019) was of course not guaranteed. I've been arguing about using this for quite some time as many have commented on the issue of clogged cooling systems. At the peak of the problem, we were replacing a gallon of antifreeze every two weeks, so of course it hurt. This month I finally took the plunge and poured 1/3 of a bottle into their cooling system. As a precaution, I pinched the hoses to and from the heater core. The cooler absolutely couldn't take the pea consistency of this product so I had to get access to the large top hose that feeds the unit from the cooler. He didn't choke either, but I found that running the engine for 10-15 minutes caused fluid to be drawn into the block. After a lot of fiddling and trying, I finally got it all in. The leaks stopped almost immediately and I did so for a good 20 minutes. There was no obvious overheating. I cleaned everything and reconnected the top hose but left the heater core clamps in place to keep dirt from clogging them. Unfortunately, after a week of running around in the car, my daughter reported that she was overheating and she said she could only drive about 10-15 minutes without jumping. True, they poured more antifreeze into the system, but it still regularly overheated. I have looked for other products to dissolve leak plug filled coolant but have given up on that in favor of flushing the system first. The following weekend I spent half a day installing the flush valves and unscrewing the radiator hoses. I flushed for a good 40 minutes until there was no trace of the solution in the system, then flushed some more. We crossed our fingers and poured new coolant into the system and I drove down the driveway for 20 minutes with no sign of overheating. It's been over a month now and my daughter says the machine is running better than before. If we can benefit from this for a few more years, I'll be a satisfied customer!
