Power/Tare button issues Ruined an otherwise good scale

I liked the scale at first. It worked great for measuring small amounts in grams and large amounts in ounces. That's why I decided on this special model and not on separate scales for small and large. However, the scale's on/off button design also doubles as a tare button, which made things difficult as the button softened somewhere down the line and I now always have trouble turning it on and keeping it on. I really don't understand why they chose the two most common operations for the same button instead of keeping the power switch separate with a tare. Furthermore, it seems that not all types of AAA batteries are popular. When it became difficult for me to keep it on, I replaced the batteries, which seem to be a bit fatter, and couldn't get it to work with the battery door closed. Not sure what the problem is but now I've attached it to the door and it seems to be working. So given the combination of these issues I can only give the scale a 3, although I really like it when it works and it definitely did. from its use. When I'm ready to replace it, I expect to go a separate route and get two scales. I also expect never to get it again due to button and battery issues because even if I only use it for small amounts, I will still pack items and end up changing batteries and batteries. will have the same problems. I changed the batteries, which seem a bit thicker and no longer work when the battery cover is closed. Not sure what the problem is but now I've attached it to the door and it seems to be working.
