Well, I'll relax it a bit. The general rule seems to be that the older the system, the more likely it is to contain some artifacts. For example, the Gen 1 PS2 worked fine on a Samsung Smart TV with 2 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, a coaxial cable, and 1 set of components. The SNES seemed great, so I assumed Genesis and Saturn would do it too. I ran into a small problem with the original NES. A light green or reddish-transparent herringbone pattern appears predominantly on black canvases. So when I'm on the title screen you can see it. While playing. depends on the game. sqoon didn't seem to mind, Contra and Double Dragon2 seemed more prominent but not enough to bother gameplay. From my research of reviews and other guys this seems possible, and it's probably just because you take an 8-bit system and make it playable 1080p over HDMI. FYI there is a switch to select 720 or 1080. I set the line to 720 and it was powered via the included mini USB cable to the TV's USB port. Would I buy it again? Maybe. As a control, I'll probably try another brand in the same caliber and see if that happens again. If so, that's it, and be glad I don't have a CRT next to a wall-mounted HD LED. Overall, I was still smiling while playing on the modern LED flat screen.
