It would be easier to install if the screw holes were already knocked out. When opening the slots, be careful not to damage the bracket. It's not deep enough to jump out. However, once that's done, the rest of the installation process is pretty easy. A few wires to connect, secure the base in place and snap the light in place and you're done. The NiMH battery is much smaller and lighter than the SLA batteries used in older flashlights. LED lights are also much brighter and use much less power, which is why such a small battery can be used. The bulbs are also much less likely to burn out. All this makes the installation worthwhile.
