There are other much more expensive e-collars but this one works great! The collar performs three functions: sound, vibration and shock. The first few times I used it, I experimented with each of the features. I only had to use the shock function once - and the power setting was low enough not to hurt Gus, he just jumped up in surprise - but it got his attention. The main thing is not to use the shock function for punitive purposes. I don't even have to use it - just rummaging around on the desk for the remote when Gus isn't paying attention is enough to calm him down. In the worst case, I use the vibration function. Battery life is excellent - around 14 days, maybe a little longer. My only issue with using the collar is losing the remote control! If you're on the fence, I encourage you to try this collar!
