Review on Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/2 HP: Efficient and Reliable Waste Management Solution by Steven Hudson

The SCOOP!: Rough plumbing

This is an excellent disposal based on the following: 1. Easy to install 2. Very quiet compared to the competition 3. Made to replace existing competitor plumbing. The first Waste King was purchased in 2015 and lasted just over a year. Manufacturer's policy is not to provide a replacement during the warranty period unless the plumber they call says I need a replacement. In other words, if the drain is stuck and the plumber pulled it out. You pay a plumber and get stuck with a rusted garbage chute that will most likely close again within a week or two. I'm lucky enough to live far enough from a plumber to have convinced the manufacturer to send me a dump and let me do the installation. But spare recycling is recycling #2. Bottom line: if you can't peel it off and get it working again, I think just buy another one. Calling a plumber costs almost the same. Today is May 2018 and I just installed my third Waste King slide. This one will last me a little over a year like the others. So three emissions in 4 years. It doesn't sound like such a good deal to me, but it's actually a lot quieter than competing models. It should be noted that all three units I purchased do not have stainless steel internals. I don't have any corrosion resistant moving parts available, but if you have a water softener you can extend the life of this trash king a bit. Next time I can buy a model with stainless steel parts, unless the competition is the same price and stainless steel, then I'll abandon ship and get another brand.
