Careful with the filter

Cool design. I feel like I should take him onboard the Millennium Falcon when I board. I used the filter that came with it and ran it under tap water for 30 seconds according to the instructions. After about 25 seconds, it broke in half in my hands. I wasn't sure if I could still use it or not, but since the replacement filters I ordered wouldn't arrive until tomorrow, I decided to give it a try. I placed both parts in a pipette-like filter holder/straw and screwed the lid back on. Now I'll admit that I obviously can't figure out the directions, which are actually pretty vague, but I turned the filter upside down. A symptom of this is the frantic sucking of straws and lack of water. At first I thought it had something to do with a bad filter, but then I remembered the instructions said to "put the filter on". For me, this meant going towards the bottleneck, but this one will close it. The filter cover is located at the bottom of the straw. phew After figuring it all out and finally taking a sip of water, the results weren't impressive. It still looks a lot like tap water to me. It might have something to do with the filter, but since water flows through it normally I don't think it's that efficient. But the bottle is cool and the filter lasts a long time so I will definitely use it. And drinking more water (read: EVERYTHING) is my goal, so it should work.
