Good quality product, the price is commensurate with the quality.

Was bought for the range of focal lengths. Convenient when traveling, walking, when you don’t really want to take extra optics with you or it’s not advisable to change it due to lack of time, dust or precipitation. Also handy when the situation calls for "pull-and-pull" tactics. Some will find it heavy and oversized. But it was made for large full-frame cameras, which themselves do not shine with lightness and compactness. So it won't pull too hard. Even with the weight and dimensions of this lens, small hand tremors become less noticeable. And the stabilizer does its job well. If you shoot with a built-in flash, a lens hood is contraindicated. Even without it, at the short end - a shadow from the body in the picture. Disappears after 35 mm. Further normal. In general, it is desirable to use it during the day. The picture on the full matrix gives a softly drawn one (I compare it with 35 / 2D). And it does not depend on focal lengths and aperture. Swallows fine contrast details like skin texture in shadows. And high-contrast, such as hair, tissue structure, draws quite well. The picture is also slightly less colored and transparent compared to 35/2D. Chromatic aberrations are minimal and only found in the corners of the frame. In general, it is an option where there is a little bit of everything. I recommend it to anyone who does not have any special requirements for drawing. And at the same time, you get a range of focal lengths in one body, suitable for almost any need.

Pros
  • - Range of focal lengths. - Large and massive: with it, small hand tremors are less noticeable. - The autofocus drive allows you to adjust your hands without any switching after autofocusing.
Cons
  • - The hood in the stowed position covers the zoom ring. - On the D700, the light of the built-in flash is blocked by the body by FR = 28 mm, even without a hood. - The zoom ring is, of course, a bit tight.
