If there's one thing the Army knows, it's how to do something in the simplest way possible.

I think there are 4 parts to this thing in total: a belt, a pulley, a buckle and a small clip that holds it to the buckle, overall it's pretty good and stays put for a while. You can simply cut off the tail and fasten it again with your teeth. Will not come loose if new looks good. Years ago, tossed in the pantry, used by a group of military researchers for many years, then used by me for many years, so it will last a long time
