We bought this barrier because we recently had two kittens and they gave us a heart attack trying to walk on the railing outside our living room. Since we don't want cats literally raining down on us from above, we bought this product to prevent that from happening. This is an incredibly simple product. It's just a roll of hard, flexible, clear plastic, a hole punch, and zip ties. It also includes some screws to attach it to the wall. First we rolled it out and cut it to length. We chose to just do one long roll even though our balcony has two sections. The hardest part was making holes on either side of the railing posts. I couldn't so my husband had to do it because his hands are stronger than mine. If you have a better hole punch, it might be worth using. Once they're done, just use the zip ties to secure them. It's not the prettiest, but at first glance you can't really see it from below, nor is it distracting. We didn't use screws on the wall, just tucked the loose ends along the wall and used the wall to hold them in place. The kittens don't pinch at the ends (they're meaner that they can't hang down the middle as much as they want, and one of them periodically comes up to him and smacks him).
