It's time for an upgrade, my old shoes looked layered and only had 2 velcro straps, they have 2 velcro straps and 1 ratchet buckle. The ratcheting mechanism makes it easy to adjust the fit and stays in place throughout your ride. This is a good solid shoe with excellent traction, the SPD cleats (not included) were easy to install and adjust. I usually wear a size 46 (11.5) but the largest was a 45, they fit perfectly, narrow foot, ratchet is almost exhausted on my thin foot but should be perfect on normal sized feet. It's worth your money, do it.
