Review on 🐻 Hangman 4-in-1 Double-Headed Bear Claw Hangers (BCK-25) - Ideal Hooks for D-Rings, Wire, Sawtooths, and Keyholes by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sticks out too far, rim too small to be sure - Not suitable for most hanging artworks

Sounds like a great idea in theory but in practice there are serious flaws, so I almost never use them, although I keep them in my installation kit (I offer professional installation services from time to time): 1- They protrude too far from the wall. Not as bad as many competing products, most others are worse but still overkill. Using them on D-rings, saw teeth, or even lots of keyholes (if they fit at all) will push the frame farther away from the wall. than other options and increase the incline. You will need very thick or stacked felt pads or rubber bumpers to line it up and there will be plenty of wall space. 2- The outer rim is too small for a secure grip. Sure it will hold D-rings or wire if you're careful, but I have very little confidence that the slightest smack won't knock it out. Keyholes or saw teeth may be less of a problem, but they have other problems. Also, keyholes are often not suitable for saws, but the larger diameter seems to give less friction and is less stable than the smaller nail shank. or screw. For all of these reasons, I think a plain drywall nail (medium gauge, ribbed body with large head) works best for saws or D-rings in light paintings; and a small nail hook or screw hook (like the Wall Dog) works best for D-rings or wire on medium-weight items (although it's best to avoid picture wire entirely, it's fraught with numerous problems that I won't discuss around). here.). For keyholes (unless you're lucky enough to get stuck), a simple pan head screw (#8 or #10) inserted into a suitable wall anchor works best in my experience. Remember that keyholes require a very high level of accuracy, within 1/16 of an inch at most. However, they are well suited for some niche applications, e.g. B. when displayed over an item like a tapestry that you hang from a string underneath, or perhaps for hanging keys. But if you're hanging art with saws, D-rings, wire, or keyholes, I wouldn't recommend using them. (meaning the smaller diameter behind the lip) Then they will really come in handy a lot more often.
