, judging by the reviews of other owners, most likely my block is defective, since the bottom plate heats up for a long time. The picture shows an egg being fried after more than 5 minutes. Temp gauge kept flashing, never ready. I can request a replacement or a refund. After much deliberation, I've lost faith in Cuisinart and just don't want to risk another defective unit. It's a shame, because initially I was completely convinced based on ratings and reviews on Youtube. As for the egg: it broke when flipped because the pan is sticky even though it's completely clean. Not exactly non-stick. It also gives new meaning to the words "running omelet or scrambled egg" because the supposed omelette ran down the drain or the supposed scrambled egg also slid down the drain. The reason is that the base plate is slightly raised at the front due to the spring mechanism and does not lie flat.
