Review on Midea Cube 20 Pint Dehumidifier with Smart Wi-Fi - Compact & Efficient for home, basements, medium-sized rooms, and bathrooms - ENERGY STAR 2021 by Erick Bowers

Should have been good

I looked at Midea in consumer reports and although they had no rating for this model all models rated had very good or excellent humidistat accuracy. After using this dehumidifier for a few days, I noticed that the humidistat shut off badly. I had three lab calibrated humidifiers that confirmed the dehumidifier was off by 12-17%. Museum quality conditions are typically 70°C and 50% humidity. Any extra moisture in the air can cause rusting. Midea can say that the humidity is 38% while the actual humidity is over 50%. This means the dehumidifier has to run constantly, which is not very energy efficient. My old desiccants did a very good job of holding about 45% with very little spread, but they both died. This device dehumidifies very well, but without a semblance of precision it's essentially useless. I've tried emailing Midea a few times about the issue and they promised to forward my information to the appropriate department, but I never got a response from them. I then tried to resolve the issue through the Revain chat. After describing several times that I had emailed Midea, the Revain representative asked for my phone number so they could confirm I had called Midea. Knowing that neither Midea nor Revane were listening to me, I realized it was best to wash my hands and initiate a return.
