I'm admittedly a protein powder snob myself. As a runner who usually runs in the morning, I eat a lot of carbohydrates in the morning but only a moderate amount of protein, and I like my afternoon snack to have a little more protein. The easiest and most satisfying way to do this is with a protein shake. I had an affair with Quest powders for about 6 months but started to burn it out. The longer I drank the shakes, the more I felt the weird aftertaste that almost all protein powders have. I've tried a few other brands but couldn't get rid of them so I hopped around trying to find something I could live with. I got to the point where I didn't want to buy more expensive powders because I couldn't tell the difference in taste/quality for the price. Decided to try this as I've had their bars before and loved them. To get a feel for the sweetness/flavor, I tried it neat by simply mixing it with almond milk. It's okay, but I drank half the bottle and only drank. If you use a shake blender, the consistency will be very smooth. I also tried it with a cup of strawberries and almond milk and it was quite tasty but had a slightly weird aftertaste. Not as bad as mine. My *favorite* experiment was this recipe: 1/2 scoop powder, 1 bottle Starbucks Light Mocha Frappuccino (if you like carbs like me), 1 teaspoon chocolate pudding. mixture and a few ice cubes. With the protein in a Starbucks drink, you're getting about 20 grams of protein and about 200 calories. It's very similar in taste and texture to a Starbucks Frappuccino (reminds me of S'mores). Also, it can be a bit strong when mixed according to directions, so I diluted it a bit more. Overall, this is a pretty good protein powder for what it is. If, like me, you're weird with your protein, this makes a good base to mix with other shake ingredients. The price is definitely not biting, and the quality is far superior to it!
