Review on Enhanced Shimano Acera MTB Rear Derailleur for Optimal Performance by Steven Ross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good for the money but still an entry level component

Had one like this or a very similar one on my hardtail mountain bike. Went through super sticky mud followed by gravel. net result. The gravel got stuck in the mud, jamming the chain and pulling the derailleur into the spokes of the rear wheel. The switch broke and I bought it as a replacement. It was easy to install and align. I have ridden with this derailleur many times and have been mostly satisfied. That's why it doesn't get five stars. It's a bit awkward to shift gears and lets the bike chain bounce a lot. All of this is normal behavior for a component of this quality. That's why it doesn't get three stars. It does what needs to be done and is inexpensive. It also works well for a cheap component. You get what you pay for and in this case it's a pretty good component in this price range.

Pros
  • Front derailleur
Cons
  • Has defects
