Good for the money but still an entry level component

Had one like this or a very similar one on my hardtail mountain bike. Went through super sticky mud followed by gravel. net result. The gravel got stuck in the mud, jamming the chain and pulling the derailleur into the spokes of the rear wheel. The switch broke and I bought it as a replacement. It was easy to install and align. I have ridden with this derailleur many times and have been mostly satisfied. That's why it doesn't get five stars. It's a bit awkward to shift gears and lets the bike…

Easy replacement for Vintage 84 Gary Fisher MTB

My old Deore XT was too long in the teeth and I was getting chain slippage on my 11T cog with the slightest bit of gear wear. (The old XT version predates my fairly new 8 speed cluster and was designed for 6.) The Deore XT equivalent is too expensive for me these days so I bought this one. To my relief, it easily screwed onto the frame and fitted together perfectly. (Of course, the stop bolts had to be adjusted.) I found that the chain was more under and over the small 11T sprocket and the…

Upgrade to Tourney TX

I had a Shimano Tourney TX 8s derailleur on my MTB that decided it wanted to be a wheel and not a derailleur. it didn't end well. Switches are hard to come by given the explosion of cycling during the pandemic, particularly switch 8 and 9. This option allowed me to get back on track about 2 weeks earlier than suggested by my LBS. Also, it was about the same price as buying a Tourney TX 8s derailleur, so I got an upgrade for about the same price as a rebuild with the same quality. I was very…

Cheap and easy.: Parts and components

Not much to say about this, it's a derailleur so here is a list of points. You are unlikely to have to reinstall the cable during installation as you can customize it. * It feels good and has a predetermined breaking point (plastic bolt) to protect the switch in case of an accident. * It s cheap. If this is your first Switch installation, it's very easy, but there are no instructions for this Switch. If you head over to YouTube and take a little time to set it up, you'll be up and running in no

Great switch! I advise!

So when I originally bought this Shimano Acera RD-M360 (RD or RM) derailleur/derailleur, I bought it to replace an old used SRAM derailleur. The RD-M360 rear derailleur used worked flawlessly for about a year. But then after a year of use I noticed the frame wobble and after reading my Park Tool BBB-3 and watching a few videos on Park Tool rear derailleur adjustment, advanced troubleshooting and inspection videos. My own RD I noticed the cage didn't wobble much but it still bothered me so I…
