Review on Enhanced Shimano Acera MTB Rear Derailleur for Optimal Performance by Peter Mendoza

Upgrade to Tourney TX

I had a Shimano Tourney TX 8s derailleur on my MTB that decided it wanted to be a wheel and not a derailleur. it didn't end well. Switches are hard to come by given the explosion of cycling during the pandemic, particularly switch 8 and 9. This option allowed me to get back on track about 2 weeks earlier than suggested by my LBS. Also, it was about the same price as buying a Tourney TX 8s derailleur, so I got an upgrade for about the same price as a rebuild with the same quality. I was very happy with its performance, but I have to say that this is an entry-level switch. In the future I plan to upgrade my entire MTB. If you're looking to upgrade to that I'd look at Deore (Shimano) or if you can make the jump go for entry level SRAM. Just be aware of which derailleurs you have on your bike as each brand draws a different amount of cable (so unlikely to be compatible if brand doesn't match)!
