Great old school brakes!

These are your most important side brakes but they are excellent quality and work better than expected. Installed as a rear brake for my 5 year old bike. The bike came with foot brakes and only a front handbrake which was fine but I really wanted him to learn how to use the rear handbrake. The cord was very long which is great for you to be able to cut it to the perfect length. Some people have complained about the brake pads. Not sure if they prepared them properly but I did and the brakes worked TOO well. My 5 year old had no problem with the rear wheel locking up. Which upset him a lot because he didn't want to wear out the tire. So here's a tip for those who don't know. To properly prepare the pads, you must remove the pads from the caliper and rub them against the concrete. Either sidewalk or driveway. Not much, just a few times to remove the glaze and get a rough finish. You can also use sandpaper, but I prefer concrete. Reinstall, tweak as needed and done. This applies to almost every brake pad. Also a good idea from time to time during scheduled maintenance.
