This works with the stem and if you have anything other than a riding bike the stems are bulky and so you will need to add foam to the mount to improve the installation. . Glue or stick some styrofoam onto the mount then add a phone (I have a 5c) and it will be amazingly stable and then the phone will not come into direct contact with the stem parts which will quickly knock the phone to death . It's a good quality thick silicone and I've ridden a lot of miles on a road bike, done laps and ridden with bindings on rough wooden planks/tarmac trails. So far there are no problems. Silicone straps on all 4 corners also fit small cell phones well and keep them securely in place.
