Review on Chapman Brewing Equipment Stainless UniVessel by Wendy Kennedy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well made, easy to clean and relatively cheap stainless steel fermenter

I bought this fermenter a while ago. This is one of two stainless steel fermenters I have. The other is from SS Brewing Technologies and this is their Brewmaster Bucket. This product costs about half the price of an SS Brewing Technologies fermenter. The fermenter is made of stainless steel with a silicone gasket under the lid, handles are securely attached to the sides and latches hold the lid in the down position. The small hole in the center of the lid is a sealed hole that fits a standard plastic airlock. The supplied valve is designed for high-performance applications and works well in many brewing systems. In my case I didn't need it and it would have been more of a hindrance than a help, so I replaced it with a plastic valve I bought here from Revain that I can use to fill from a bucket or just pour the contents into another fermenter (or bottling bucket). Because it's made of stainless steel, it's easy to clean and won't retain odors between batches. This helps make the beer better. The bucket-shaped design is suitable for most brewing applications, although for many it is better to use a conical bottom as yeast collects more easily. read. However, my test with a one-gallon jug (a good brand name) showed that the markings read a bit low. With five gallons in the fermenter, the label says about 5.4. You should check this yourself when buying to know whether or not you can trust the label as you can use it to calculate the carbonation sugar. I've used it for two batches now. I had no problems with fermentation, clarification or leakage. It "just works" and provides the basic features I need at a reasonable price.
