These are not very strong fasteners and will break in half with strong resistance with very little torque. To avoid this, a properly sized hole is required, which at a 5/16" size corresponds to a 1/4" diameter hole (3/8" anchors require a 3/8" hole, so the anchor type is slightly different ). Second, you must drill the hole at least 3/4 inch deeper than the length of the Tapson anchor and use a feeler gauge to verify the exact depth. Third, you need to use an air compressor to blow the mud out of the hole and process the compressed air. even better since you can insert the small diameter plastic tube into the hole and blow it all out. If you don't follow these steps, you may find that half of the Tapcon anchor is stuck in the hole, turning one project into two.
