Beware of radio operators

HAM Operator Warning: Bought this for my ham radio computer network to protect it from lightning or surges hitting my ethernet switch. Since the ground wire was not included, I had to make a special short wire to connect to the ham station common ground (connects to the main house ground 8 feet away). Pretty basic and installation was easy. I checked the internet speed with and without this device and found no degradation πŸ‘. When I went on the air, my digital transmissions went haywire. Somehow the RF got into the item through the ground wire as disconnecting it fixed the problem. So I wrapped three turns of the ground wire around a 1/2" ID ferrite clip and reconnected the wire, which fixed the problem. This element appears to have no internal RFI circuitry and is very sensitive to power in excess of 100W found in coaxial and grounded devices. This is a big disappointment.
