Good protection goes with Surge Protector

The unit has now been installed for a few months and is still working well. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't had any surges or flashes yet. But I believe the system will work if it works.

Pros
  • 1U Rack Mount Surge Protector 16x Ethernet - Gigabit GbE PoE/High PoE+ 1000Mbps LAN Ethernet Network
Cons
  • The list goes on.

No ground wire - power strips and surge protector

Not sure yet if it works properly. I won't send you a cable. Update: the description doesn't specifically say a wire was included, so my fault for assuming that was the case.

Pros
  • Compatibility with 19" 1U server rack
Cons
  • Something else

It doesn't seem to weaken the signal.

In my career as an instrumenter I have seen that copper wires running between buildings are vulnerable to lightning. Only gas tubes are really effective for this and don't load the signal very much. If like me you're wondering if they work fine, here's my setup, which works fine on 100MB: outbuildings. The cable has been in the ground for about 7 years but has not been used for Ethernet before. There is a block 66 at each end. I have tried unsuccessfully to put RJ45 on an underground cable but…

Cons

Good protection on surge protectors

The device has been installed for several months and has been working well so far. I only gave it 4 stars because I didn't experience any power surges or lighting. But I believe that System will work if it works.

  • Compatibility with 1U 19" server rack
Cons

No ground wire in power strips and surge protector

Don't know if it still works properly but I complain it shows the ground wire option but they don't send you a wire. Update: The description doesn't explicitly say a wire was included, so it's my fault for assuming it was.

Pros
  • Discharge tubes for full protection GDT - Lightning Suppressor RJ45 CAT6/CAT5 cable protector
Cons
  • Expensive

Very high quality surge protection.

During almost every thunderstorm, a port on my router would fail. Frontier got tired of replacing them I think since I lost four routers in five months. I live on the highest natural point in Central Florida, which is said to receive more lightning strikes than anywhere else in the US. Since installing this I haven't lost an ethernet connection and have survived a hurricane and seventeen major thunderstorms. When I installed it I used one of the other reviewers' ideas, thanks btw. I did not use

Pros
  • Line Line-to-ground protection, bi-directional latch, 5KA 8/20 µs
Cons
  • Not the best

Beware of radio operators

HAM Operator Warning: Bought this for my ham radio computer network to protect it from lightning or surges hitting my ethernet switch. Since the ground wire was not included, I had to make a special short wire to connect to the ham station common ground (connects to the main house ground 8 feet away). Pretty basic and installation was easy. I checked the internet speed with and without this device and found no degradation 👍. When I went on the air, my digital transmissions went haywire…

Pros
  • 16 (Spare) DIN panel mount Includes: 1 x rack rail; 16 Surge Protector
Cons
  • Clarity
