Review on πŸ’₯ Rack-Mountable Ethernet Surge Protector (16 Port) with PoE+ Gigabit for Server Rack (1U) - Gas Discharge Tube - RJ45 Lightning Suppressor - LAN Network CAT5/CAT6 Thunder Arrestor for GbE 1000 Mbps - Tupavco TP316 by Michael Wiley

Very high quality surge protection.

During almost every thunderstorm, a port on my router would fail. Frontier got tired of replacing them I think since I lost four routers in five months. I live on the highest natural point in Central Florida, which is said to receive more lightning strikes than anywhere else in the US. Since installing this I haven't lost an ethernet connection and have survived a hurricane and seventeen major thunderstorms. When I installed it I used one of the other reviewers' ideas, thanks btw. I did not use the vendor-supplied ground wire, but ran a 12 AWG stranded wire from the unit to a spare 3-wire 15Amp cord. plug in the ground contact. Any other pins or spades on the connector were left blank and covered with heat shrink tubing on the inside. Plugged into an outlet within three feet of the surge protector. A fantastic solution now adding them to all my router ports and my ORBI Wifi devices.

Pros
  • Line Line-to-ground protection, bi-directional latch, 5KA 8/20 Β΅s
Cons
  • Not the best
